Weighted Blanket 3 kg

A 3 kg weighted blanket corresponds to a body weight of about 30 to 39 kg, following the 10% rule. It is our lightest weight: it is mainly for children from about 30 kg, some teens and very petite adults. Two models offer it, the Kids blanket in three sizes and the Cotton in 135 × 200 cm only, from $149.90.

Who is a 3 kg weight for?

The reference rule is the same for everyone: about 10% of body weight. A 3 kg weight is therefore meant for someone weighing 30 to 39 kg. We offer nothing lighter: between 15 and 29 kg, 10% of body weight would be less than 3 kg, and a weighted blanket should then only be considered with the advice of a healthcare professional. Under 3 years old or under 15 kg, never use a weighted blanket, and never for a baby.

The rules to follow for a child

  • The child weighs at least 30 kg for this weight, and an adult checks their weight before the first night.
  • The child must be able to take the blanket off on their own, without help.
  • Hesitating between 3 and 4 kg? Choose 3 kg: between two weights, go for the lighter one.
  • The blanket covers the body, not the bed: it should not hang over the sides.

These precautions are explained in our article weighted blankets for kids: age, weight and safety. Comfort product, not a medical device. If in doubt, or for a child, ask a healthcare professional for advice.

The 90 × 120 cm covers a child up to about 120 cm tall, the 100 × 150 cm up to about 145 cm, and the 110 × 170 cm suits older children and teens. The Cotton, with its double-sided 100% cotton cover for all seasons, comes in 3 kg only in the 135 × 200 cm adult size: a logical choice for a petite adult or a teen who already sleeps in an adult bed.

If 3 kg isn’t quite the right weight

From 40 kg, move up to the 4 kg weighted blanket. For an adult who is new to the feeling and wants it very subtle, our weighted duvet comes in 2.5 kg, with the softness of a duvet. Our weight guide has the full chart, and if the weight you receive doesn’t suit you, we arrange a weight exchange.

Frequently asked questions

My child weighs 25 kg: is the 3 kg possible?

No. For a child weighing 15 to 29 kg, 10% of body weight is still below our lightest weight. So we do not recommend a weighted blanket without the approval of a healthcare professional. The 3 kg becomes suitable from about 30 kg, with an adult checking the weight.

Which size in 3 kg for a teen?

The 110 × 170 cm Kids blanket suits older children and teens. If your teen already sleeps in an adult bed and is taller than this length, the 3 kg Cotton in 135 × 200 cm is the alternative, from $149.90.

Can an adult choose a 3 kg weighted blanket?

Yes, if they weigh about 30 to 39 kg, in which case the Cotton in 135 × 200 cm is suitable. A heavier adult who only wants a very light feeling can look at the 2.5 kg weighted duvet, designed for a first try.
