Description

The Kids weighted blanket offers the same gentle, enveloping pressure as our adult models, in sizes and weights designed for children and teenagers. Many parents look for one to help create a calmer bedtime routine, particularly when their child has specific sensory needs, ADHD or autism spectrum disorder. Every child experiences it differently: watch how they respond and let them get used to it at their own pace.

Essential safety guidelines: never use this blanket for a child under 3 years old or under 15 kg, or for a baby. The child must always be able to remove the blanket on their own. An adult should check that the chosen weight is suitable.

A cotton cover with 12 ties

Like our adult blankets, it’s made up of an insert filled with glass microbeads distributed in compartments and a removable cover. Twelve ties connect the cover to the insert: it stays in place and comes off easily for washing.

  • Cover: dark grey in velvet, midnight blue or light grey in cotton.
  • Filling: glass microbeads in compartments.
  • Fastening: 12 ties.
  • Sizes: 90 x 120 cm, 100 x 150 cm and 110 x 170 cm.
  • Weights: 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 kg, in every size.

Made in Europe with OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified textiles. The 90 x 120 cm size suits younger children, the 100 x 150 cm size school-age children, and the 110 x 170 cm size tweens and teenagers. The blanket should cover the body without hanging far over the edge of the bed.

Which weight should you choose?

As for adults, the rule is around 10% of the child’s weight. If in doubt, always choose the lighter option.

Child’s weight Recommended blanket weight
Under about 25 kg No weight in this range is suitable: wait or seek advice
25 to 35 kg 3 kg
35 to 45 kg 4 kg
45 to 55 kg 5 kg
55 to 65 kg 6 kg
Over 65 kg 7 kg

Our lightest weight is 3 kg: for a young child under about 25 kg, it exceeds the 10% rule. If the weight you receive isn’t suitable, we’ll arrange an exchange.

Care

Children get things dirty fast: the removable cover comes off and is machine washable at 40 °C maximum. The insert needs washing less often, separately, at 30 °C maximum on a delicate cycle, if your machine can handle the weight. Air dry, without a tumble dryer.

Blanket or weighted vest: which to choose?

The Kids blanket is for moments of rest: bedtime, reading, quiet time on the sofa. For daytime use on the move, the kids weighted vest spreads a lighter weight over the shoulders and chest. For a teenager over 65 kg, an adult blanket such as the Cotton weighted blanket may also be suitable.

Comfort product, not a medical device. If in doubt, or for a child, ask a healthcare professional for advice.
