Weighted Blanket 12 kg

The 12 kg weighted blanket is our heaviest weight. It is meant for people weighing 120 kg or more and comes in four models: Winter, Premium, Sensory and for two, with a 12 kg inner blanket on each side. An inner blanket this heavy calls for a few precautions when handling and washing it, explained below. Prices from $159.90 for the Sensory in 135 × 200 cm.

Who it is for: 120 kg and over

Our reference chart sets the blanket weight at 12 kg from a body weight of 120 kg, and we do not offer a heavier blanket. So even above 130 kg, 12 kg remains our recommendation. At 120 or 121 kg, or for a first weighted blanket, it is perfectly reasonable to start with 11 kg (Cotton, Summer, Soft) or 10 kg (in these four models).

The four models in 12 kg

Model Key feature Sizes in 12 kg From
Sensory one single cotton piece, no zip 135 × 200, 150 × 220 cm $159.90
Winter thick padding, cotton and velvet cover 135 × 200, 150 × 220 cm $219.90
Premium fixed inner blanket with stainless steel beads 135 × 200, 150 × 220 cm $299.90
For two two 12 kg inner blankets joined by straps 270 × 200 cm $449.90

The Premium is often the most comfortable at this weight, because its inner blanket does not shift inside the zipped cover. The Winter suits cool bedrooms. The Sensory, with no cover or zip, can be used on its own, under or over a duvet, all year round.

Handling and washing a 12 kg inner blanket

  1. Fold the blanket in half and then in quarters before carrying it, instead of pulling it by one edge.
  2. Remove the cover if the model has one: it washes separately at 40 °C.
  3. Make sure your machine can take 12 kg before washing the inner blanket, at 30 °C on a delicate cycle.
  4. For the Premium, choose a wash with no spin or a gentle spin.
  5. Air dry, flat if possible; never tumble dry.

Washing the cover more often than the inner blanket makes care much easier. Details for each model are on our care page and in the article how to wash a weighted blanket.

For two, with 12 kg

In the weighted blanket for two, the weight is per inner blanket: each 135 × 200 cm half corresponds to about 10% of its sleeper’s weight. The inner blankets detach, so you can wash each half separately. For a slightly lighter weight, see the 11 kg collection or the 10.5 kg weighted duvet. Comfort product, not a medical device. If in doubt, or for a child, ask a healthcare professional for advice.
