The benchmark: 90 to 99 kg

A weight of about 10% of body weight gives 9 kg for someone weighing 90 to 99 kg. For a first weighted blanket or if you are quite sensitive to pressure, the step below is still an option: 7 kg in these three models, or 8 kg in the Winter, Premium and Sensory.

Three models for three ways of sleeping

Model Who it suits Sizes in 9 kg From
Summer hot sleepers, heated bedroom 135 × 200, 150 × 220 cm $139.90
Cotton year-round use, removable cover 135 × 200, 150 × 220 cm $149.90
Soft lovers of a plush feel 135 × 200 cm $179.90
  • The Summer spreads the glass microbeads in stitched pockets, with no cover: nothing slips, nothing to put back in place.
  • The Cotton keeps the inner blanket attached to its 100% cotton cover with tie loops; the cover goes in the machine on its own.
  • The Soft offers a plush side for cool evenings and a cotton side when the room warms up.

Taller build: think about size too

If you are taller than about 1.80 m, the 150 × 220 cm, offered in the Cotton ($179.90) and the Summer ($159.90), covers the body better. The Soft comes in 135 × 200 cm only. In every case, the blanket covers the person, not the bed: it should not hang over the sides, otherwise the weight pulls it towards the floor.

Caring for a 9 kg blanket

For the Cotton, the cover washes at 40 °C and the inner blanket at 30 °C on a delicate cycle with a low spin, then dries flat. The Summer and the Soft go in the machine at 30 °C maximum. None of these models goes in the tumble dryer. Before starting a wash, check that your machine can take this weight; our care page covers each model in detail.

Prefer the Winter, Premium or Sensory? They don’t come in 9 kg: take 8 kg, in the 8 kg collection. In autumn and winter, the 8.5 kg weighted duvet is the other close option. Above 99 kg, see the 10 kg collection. Comfort product, not a medical device. If in doubt, or for a child, ask a healthcare professional for advice.

Frequently asked questions

Which 9 kg weighted blanket for someone who sleeps hot?

The Summer is the best fit: double-sided cotton, no cover, glass microbeads in stitched pockets, designed for summer and heated bedrooms. In 9 kg, it costs $139.90 in 135 × 200 cm and $159.90 in 150 × 220 cm.

I am 1.90 m tall and weigh 95 kg: which size?

The 150 × 220 cm, available in 9 kg in the Cotton and the Summer, suits adults taller than about 1.80 m. The Soft comes in 135 × 200 cm only, which is a little short for your height.

Why doesn't the Winter come in 9 kg?

The Winter, like the Premium and the Sensory, comes in 6, 8, 10 and 12 kg. Between 90 and 99 kg with these models, our rule is to take the next lighter weight available, which is 8 kg.
